I won’t beat around the bush, so to speak. We need class members to buy their tickets.
Deadline: Tomorrow
Why? Although we’ve had a large group of people indicate to us that they would be going, not enough people have purchased their tickets.
The sticking point is that we can pay deposits on all of the things/events we’ve scheduled or planned for, but without an assurance of actual ticket sales, we could not guarantee that we could cover the rest of the cost. That would have been too great a risk.
And yes, we DID look at many different scenarios in terms of reducing costs. Believe me, we spent a lot of time doing so. But the attendance numbers just don’t add up high enough to overcome the fear that we would not have the amount of Corona Panthers we required to cover costs.
This is our 25th year reunion. That’s huge. Especially at this point in our lives. Yes, I might have a shirt or two that might be older than that but the quarter century mark is very special in this sense. And the committee really wanted it to be special. So many people have stated that there isn’t anything to bring them back to a reunion – that’s why we wanted to make this more of a party. Block party, keg party, birthday party, whatever…..but a party it would be.
Growing up in the 80’s as we did was very unique. There are very specific periods in each decade that are marked for history. The end of the 60’s, the early 70’s the mid 80s. We were born during some tumultuous times. We grew up in the disco era. We matured during Generation Me and all that was material [girl]. The 80’s were the last of an iconic age.
Now, there is a good chance that this could be my last blog post. No more recounting of great times, music or movies. No additional stories of stinky lockers, hated teachers, and falling asleep in class.
I joked it would take a miracle to make the numbers work in order for the team to pass the go/no go stage. But I was still hoping….
Purchase your tickets. Spread the word. Tweet, Facebook, IM, Call, Email, Fax, Text anyone from our class.
Please.

Marena, i didn’t run x-country [too much the he-man] so I don’t remember the beach parties but I remember hearing about them! TP’ing the coaches house, yes. That was like an all year thing, no?
I remember during track season having to run with the x-country people. How silly was that????

25 years is a long time. Through Facebook it’s been nice to reconnect with so many classmates, but it doesn’t compare to face to face. Come on everyone…pull together & make it happen. Sure, I couldn’t wait to leave high school…but the reunions are a hoot!

Hi Bobby,
Thank you and the committee for putting this together. It sounds like its a lot of work but you have enjoyed it. I’ll buy my ticket this evening. But will a few tickets be enough? Just wondering.
Where am I on this whole scheme of things? On the cusp vacillating, yes, no, possibly. Will anyone care, will anyone even remember who I am. Most of my friends were Class of 86. Yet, I’m curious to see all of the people I had fun with in track and Cross Country. Some people I remember with great affection. People that made a difference to me and my high school experience.
Do any of you recall our beach parties during cross country season? Or Tp’ng the coaches home. Do you recall catching rides back while out running because we didn’t want to run the 6 miles coach. LOL So many memories. I love high school, but as much as I loved it I’ve only kept in touch with one person, Brenden.
Wondering how many people feel the same way, I had a great time but I’ve moved on.
Thanks Bobby…. I will be there.
